March 28, 1956: Hurd (IBM) Letter to Allen Seeking "Active Negotiations"

Dr. Hurd now wished to enter "active negotiations looking toward the establishment of an IBM Western Universities Data Processing Center at UCLA." He wants assurance that a suitable space will be available by the summer of 1957. If this date cannot be met, then IBM will carry out negotiations with some other university. He also wants a formal statement that it is possible for a state institution to allow IBM to retain 10 hours of daily use for testing customer programs and overflow Service Bureau work. (The letter)
