March 30, 1956: Letter from Chancellor Allen to President Sproul, et. al.

Chancellor Allen is passing on Hurd's letter to President Sproul. The new information here is that IBM has selected MIT to be the Eastern Center. If an agreement satisfactory to the Regents can be reached by July, then summer of 1957 is a reasonble expectation for an installation of the computer. Allen thinks that IBM's request for computing time is justified and he hopes that "all of us will endeavor to work out a team approach to what appears to me to be a magnificent opportunity for industry-University cooperation..." The letter is available here.
