November 19, 1956: Conference on Education and Research
On this date, the Western Data Processing Center sponsored its first Conference that included speakers from industry and the university, a Round-Table discussion, and a Summary on the "next steps" by Dean Jacoby. This is the first public mention of Dr. George W. Brown who is listed as a Senior Consultant to WDPC He spoke about the WDPC facilties, proposed activities and staff. Dr. Brown became the founding Director of WDPC on April 1, 1957. The Announcement and the Program are available here.
